Construction of the boat ramps commenced in May 2009 and is on schedule. Ramps are 100% completed. The docks are 95% complete waiting for the upland construction to start in order to complete dock construction.
The Dredging of the (removal of muck from the bottom of river) was required by St. Johns River Water Management District. Dredging of the river began in late November.
Parks staff and Florida Department of Traffic resolved design issues regarding the access entry/exit way from Highway U.S. 1., and environmental and roadway permits have been issued. Bid was awarded and contract being finalized. Issuance of notice to proceed anticipated for February 2010.
On May 6, 2008, the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners approved the naming of referendum-acquired property, previously referred to as the South County Boat Launch Facility, to Christenson's Landing.
