What Is The Solution?
(Or How to Untangle The Problem)

Our main goal is to spread the word about the problems monofilament can cause wildlife and people, and the easy ways to prevent the problem from becoming worse.

Consider that fishing line takes 600 years to degrade underwater, and that nylon line has been used by over 600,000 anglers in Brevard County each year for almost 70 years. You will recognize there's a big need to educate ourselves and take steps to make a difference.

Many of us just don't realize the extent of the problem. But once anglers, nature enthusiasts, businesses, and our communities are aware, we can take steps to be more responsible with the disposal of monofilament line and nets.

An easy step to take is to cut monofilament line into small pieces (about 6 inches long) before throwing it in the trash. This way monofilament line that ends up in the landfill cannot harm animals that scavenge in the trash looking for resources to build a nest or their next meal.
