Volunteers Needed |
Could
you step in and speak up for a NEGLECTED or ABUSED child in court?
Could you spare a few hours a week to help build a child's future?
If so, you could become a Guardian Ad Litem volunteer. This year in
Brevard County more than 1700 children will need someone to give them a
voice and see that their best interests are served. Because the number of
cases has grown tremendously in recent years, more volunteers are urgently
needed.
The Guardian Ad Litem is the "voice of
the child". The term Guardian Ad Litem means "guardian for the
case". Therefore, a GAL is not a foster parent, legal guardian, or
expected to provide a home for the child. A Guardian Ad Litem is
paired with an attorney to make recommendations to the judge regarding a
safe place or special services. You can champion an abused or
neglected child and prevent them from suffering future harm.
If you would like to become a Guardian Ad
Litem, please fill out our Volunteer
Application.
