On April 20, 2010, the Board of County Commissioners heard proposed modifications to the Brevard County Comprehensive Plan; Conservation Element; Wetlands, Surface Water, and Flood Hazard Areas Objectives. The Board directed public input and recommendations concerning appropriate modifications.  The Natural Resources Management Office will hold three public forums as indicated below. 

• Objective 4, Flood Hazard Areas
  Wed., May 5, 2010, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
• Objective 3, Surface Water
  Fri., May 7, 2010, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
• Objective 5, Wetlands
  Wed., May 19, 2010, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The forums will be held at the following location:

Viera Government Center

Building C, 3rd Floor, Florida Room

Viera, FL 32940

Meeting Format (times are approximate)

• 5:30 – 5:40: Introduction by Ernest Brown, Director, Natural Resources Management Office

• 5:40 – 6:00: Staff presentation of existing and proposed policy modifications.

• 6:00 – 7:30: Public comment (5 minute maximum per speaker). Staff will also accept written comments at any time.

The Board of County Commissioner will take final comments and make a final transmittal decision at a public hearing at the May 27, 2010 meeting to be held at 5:00 pm in the Commission Chambers in Building A, Viera Government Center.

Your experience working with these policies and their associated ordinances makes you an invaluable resource during this process, and your contribution to this effort is very important to the citizens of Brevard County. We look forward to hearing your input.
