Herbarium Collection
An herbarium is a collection of pressed and dried plants that are labeled with information on where and when they were collected. An herbarium specimen consists of a dried plant (or part of a plant) glued or sewn on an archival quality sheet of paper with a label documenting information about the specimen. Brevard County Natural Resources Management Office maintains an active herbarium that contains specimens found growing in natural areas within Brevard County. Volunteers participate in the collecting of plants from Brevard County parks, entering collection data, and mounting specimens and their labels.
The Brevard County Herbarium is open for visitation upon appointment with the manager of the herbariumClick here for more information on the herbarium |
