| 2009 FEMA Sand Project |
| |
On November 17, 2008 the Board of County Commissioners approved the local cost share to move forward with a FEMA Sand Project to restore recent erosion losses from the dune project earlier this year. FEMA traveled the entire shoreline on October 21 – 22 and calculated the sand volume lost from the dune in the South Beaches and Mid Reach. Replacing these loses should restore the dune to approximately the same condition as seen in May 2008. FEMA provided 75% of funding for sand placement with the state and county providing the remaining 25%. For a list of addresses scheduled for sand placement, click here.
