The nature sanctuary property is located west and north of Fox Lake Park on the opposite side of Fox Lake, and encompasses an area of land and water totaling over 3000 acres.  The access points and trailheads to the site are currently under development, and anticipated to formally open in early 2012. Trailheads will be located within Fox Lake Park and will accommodate parking and opportunities for hiking, non-motorized mountain biking, horseback riding, canoeing and kayaking.  The 7-mile trail system will be accessible both by land (from the the park) and by canoe or kayak from the lake in two separate locations along the canoe / kayak trail.  The site will be open for day-use only, however a primitive campsite is available by permit only for organized youth organizations.  The only bathroom facilities are at Fox Lake Park.

**Please keep in mind that all trails are primitive wilderness trails and there are no facilities.  Please be prepared for your hike by first letting someone know where you are going, and be sure to bring plenty of water, appropriate clothing, bug spray, sun screen and a trail map.  Please also keep in mind that the park gate closes at dark.

**Hunting is not permitted on the sanctuary property, however registered nuisance wildlife trappers are utilized on the site on a regular basis under special authorization and strictly for the purpose of controlling feral hog populations, which are an ongoing threat to the native biological diversity of the sanctuary.
