Fox Lake Sanctuary

Dicerandra Scrub Sanctuary Brevard County EEL Program

This 2500-acre sanctuary, located adjacent to the County’s Fox Lake Park is part of a larger conservation landscape managed by various State agencies totaling more than 20,000 acres.  The sanctuary contains a variety of habitats such as scrub, pine flatwoods, oak hammocks, depression and freshwater marshes, that support many wildlife species such as white-tailed deer, bobcat, Florida scrub jays, wood storks, and sandhill cranes.

Access to the property is currently under development, and will include both hiking and equestrian trailheads located within Fox Lake Park.  The trailheads providing access to over 7 miles of hiking and equestrian trails will be open for public use in early January 2012.  Currently visitors are welcome to enter the property on foot or non-motorized bike, however the trails will not be formally marked, and the trailheads are not yet developed.
